LIVE FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed.
1 Peter 2:24
Living for righteousness is a mark of a believer. Living
righteously is what distinguishes a believer from an unbeliever and not just
the believer’s confession. A believer must live by the Word, a believer must
live by faith.
What is faith? Faith is believing and speaking, and
believing and acting on the Word, not only must a believer speak the Word but
He must also act on the Word. A believer must be a doer of the Word. He or she
ought to walk as Christ walked.
He who says he abides in Him ought to himself walk just as
He walked.
1John 2:6
As believers we ought to live as Christ did, He is our
example. We have to walk worthy of the Lord and the gospel. Our walk should
reflect the character of Jesus Christ. When they call us Christians it should
be because we are like Christ, not just because we say that we are Christians.
That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him,
being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
Colossians 1:10
We should bear fruit worthy of repentance. Our lifestyle
matters to God and it should be a lifestyle that differentiates us from the
world. People should know us by our fruit. Holiness is a mark of a Christian.
Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance.
Matthew 3:8
They will know us by our fruit. When they look at your
manner of life, what do they see? What can other believers say about you, what
can your family, friends, neighbors or colleagues say about you? Brothers and
sisters, you should bear fruit, well pleasing to the Master.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
Though of the day: I should bear fruit worthy of repentance;
I should live for righteousness.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching me to bear
fruit. My lifestyle matters to You and those around me and I should live in the
way that represents you well, thank You for teaching me this truth, in Jesus’
name, Amen.
