When you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior you need to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. God kept Joseph alive because Joseph had a dream. Joseph could have died at the hands of his brothers but instead they threw him in a pit, later on they took him out of the pit and sold him into slavery. When he got to Egypt he served his master faithfully until he was accused of attempted rape by a vindictive woman and was sent to prison. In prison he was used by God to interpret a dream and eventually he got out of prison. When Joseph got out of prison, he accomplished his dream. Joseph did not perish in the face of adversity because he had a dream. How many people perish because they don’t have a dream that they actively pursue? Ephesians 2:13 There is power, wonder working power in the blood of Jesus and we have been brought near by the blood of Christ. The Bible clearly states that there is no forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood. And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission. Hebrews 9:22 In the Old Testament, they relied on the blood of goats and bulls to cover sins which was just a shadow. In the New Testament, the Lamb of God shed His own blood on the cross for the remission of sins. When we believe in Jesus and receive Him as our Lord and Savior, our sins are removed, totally blotted out and now we have been brought near.   Now we can have a living relationship with the living God. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1 Corinthians 13:11 The Greek word for child here is “nepios” which means an infant, a babe, one who cannot speak, a simple minded person and an immature Christian. Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 1 John 5:14 If you are going to have answered prayers you will have to ask according to God’s will, and that means in line with His Word. God’s Word reveals God’s will for your life, therefore, if it’s in the Word, you can ask for it. When I was in high school a certain prophet from the U.S. came to our school and prophesied to me and after that meeting one of my teachers said to other students, “If the prophet did not prophecy to you and you want what he prophesied to someone else, you can say, ‘God, I want the same thing.’” That couldn’t be further from the truth, because that would be covetousness. Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 You cannot ask God for something that belongs to someone that would be covetousness, that is not God’s will.
