HUMBLE PEOPLE PRAISE OTHERS AND NOT THEMSELVES
Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger not your own lips.
Proverbs 27:2
Have you ever met people who love to talk
about themselves? People who can hold a conversation from start to finish just
talking about themselves. They wouldn’t talk about anything that concerns the
person that they are communicating with. That is not wisdom and that is not
humility.
Humble people don’t praise themselves. They
shift the focus from themselves to others in order to bring out the best in
others. Humble people love to praise others and not themselves. Humble people
encourage, compliment and speak well of others in their conversations.
Let your speech always be with grace,
seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
Colossians 4:6
Uplift and speak well of others in your
conversations. Instead of focusing on people’s shortcomings, highlight the good
that people do. This is especially good for leadership. Leaders highlight the
good that people do. Be humble, praise others and let others praise you not
your own mouth. That is wisdom and that is humility.
People around you need encouragement. You
can bring out the best in others by focusing on others and not yourself. When
you do this, you will establish yourself as a leader, because leaders bring out
the best in others. The aim is to bring out the best in others in a
conversation.
The Lord God has given Me the tongue of the
learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to hear as the learned.
Isaiah 50:4
Thought of the day: Humble people praise
others and not themselves.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching
me humility, thank that I can bring out the best in others by uplifting them
and speaking well of them, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
