PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
Jude 1:20
God wants you to be led by the Spirit, pray
in the Spirit and walk in the Spirit. I like to put it this way, you are led by
the Spirit to pray in the Spirit and then you walk in the Spirit. When you walk
in the Spirit you will not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you
shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16
On the day of Pentecost when the disciples
of Jesus received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, praying in tongues was the
first gift they received. Furthermore, Paul said to the church at Corinth, “I
thank my God I speak in tongues more that you all.” That goes to show how
important praying in the Spirit is.
I thank my God I speak in tongues more than
you all.
1 Corinthians 14:18
Sometimes you do not know what to say or
how to pray. God has given us the gift of tongues to pray effectively. When you
pray in the Spirit you speak mysteries and the Holy Spirit gives you utterance.
And they were all filled with the Holy
Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance.
Acts 2:4
When you pray in the Spirit you pray
perfect prayers that produce results. The Holy Spirit helps you to pray
according to God’s will. Praying in the Spirit is a sure way of praying
effective prayers.
Likewise the Spirit helps in our
weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches
the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession
for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27
Thought of the day: When I pray in the
Spirit, I pray effective prayers.
Prayer: Take time to pray in the Spirit.
