BEARING FRUIT
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
Matthew 7:17
As born-again believers we ought to bear
fruit. The world will know us by our fruit that we are Christians and not by
our mere confession. There has to be a distinct difference between a believer
and someone who is an unbeliever.
We are in the world but not of the world.
In the book of Acts, the disciples were called Christians because they were
Christ-like, they were identified with Christ. Therefore, Christianity is a
lifestyle.
And when he had found him, he brought him
to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and
taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in
Antioch.
Acts 11:26
There are two kinds of Christians, a carnal
Christian and a spiritual Christian. A carnal Christian is a natural man and he
is ruled by the senses. The Bible says that a carnal Christian is a babe in
Christ. The spiritual Christian is a growing Christian who bears fruit. This is
a more mature believer and you will know him or her by the fruit of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control. Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
Every Christian can grow and bear fruit.
All that he or she has to do is spend time with Jesus and he or she will be
fruitful and productive. The more you spend time with Jesus the more you bear
fruit.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you,
unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in
Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:4-5
Thought of the day: The more I spend time
with Jesus, the more I bear fruit.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that I
can be fruitful and productive. Thank You that as I spend time in the Word and
prayer, I bear fruit, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
