DEALING WISELY IN THE AFFAIRS OF LIFE
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:8
Years ago, I used to wonder, if God has
given me wisdom, why do I keep making foolish choices? That was because I did
not know that I had to grow in the knowledge of God’s Word. As time passed, God
kept me from making silly mistakes. Now, by God’s grace I deal wisely in the
affairs of life. However, that did not
happen overnight, I had to be a student of God’s Word.
Did you know that God’s Word can make you
smart? Yes, God’s Word can make you super intelligent. In the opening verse we
have learnt that God wanted Joshua to spend time in the Word. In another
passage we read that Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom.
Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the
spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of
Israel heeded him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Deuteronomy 34:9
Although this was the case, God still
wanted Joshua to spend time in the Word. Now let’s read what happened in
Joshua’s ministry.
Behold, this day I am going the way of all
the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one
thing has failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spoke
concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.
Joshua 23:14
Glory to God! It worked because evidently Joshua
made his way prosperous and had good success in his ministry; he dealt wisely
in the affairs of life and the key was Scriptural meditation. To meditate on
the Word means to study, to ponder, and to mutter the Word.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the
counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat
of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he
meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of
water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not
wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
Psalm 1:1-3
Thought of the day: When I meditate on
God’s Word, I will deal wisely in the affairs of life and have good success.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your
Word, thank You that when I meditate on Your Word I will prosper and have good
success, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
